• Alignment with long-term development plans
• Assessment against the ESWIM 11 Core Attributes
Meeting qualification standards, rankings, published criteria, demonstrating improvement, or expressing commitment does not guarantee selection or continued placement.
Final decisions regarding entry, continuation, promotion, or removal rest solely with the Head Coach.
Qualification Standards and Pathway Consideration
Swimmers may be considered for Top B selection if they demonstrate basic technical competence, positive learning behaviours, and readiness for structured competitive training.
Selection is based on skill execution, attitude, effort, and overall readiness for increased training demands.
Wildcard Selection
The Head Coach has the discretionary ability to select “wildcard” swimmers who are deemed to have strong long-term potential.
Wildcard placements are provisional, time-limited, and granted solely at the discretion of the Head Coach.
Such placements do not confer any automatic right to continued membership of the group, regardless of performance outcomes, time standards, rankings, or improvements achieved.
Continuation, renewal, or termination of a wildcard placement is determined exclusively by the Head Coach and may be reviewed, modified, or withdrawn at any time.
Expectations and Standards
All Top B athletes are expected to:
• Attend all scheduled training sessions unless formally excused
• Maintain consistent effort, focus, and positive learning behaviours
• Demonstrate respect for coaches, teammates, and facilities
• Engage fully in skill development and practice routines
• Take responsibility for preparation, behaviour, and learning
• Contribute positively to team culture and training environment
Athletes must consistently demonstrate strong alignment with the ESWIM 11 Core Attributes relative to their age and peer group.
Failure to maintain required standards may result in reassignment to another training group and/or further action in accordance with ESWIM’s membership and conduct policies.
Demonstrating effort, improvement, or compliance with training requirements does not in itself constitute grounds for continued placement.
Review and Accountability
All placements within the Top B group are subject to ongoing review.
Group membership is not permanent and is earned through sustained commitment, conduct, and alignment with program standards.
The Head Coach reserves the right, at their discretion, to move, promote, reassign, or remove swimmers from training groups and/or club membership at any time in the best interests of the athlete and the program.
